Once you complete the "The Way of the Weaponsmith" quest and become a Weaponsmith, you can specialize further into one of the three weapon specialization: Axesmith, Hammersmith, or Swordsmith.

As someone without Mining I really wish it would just tell me how much of each Bar, and other stuff, I needed appx all the way up. They take half the thorium and some heart of fire. Heart of fire can be pretty cheap. Most cases cheaper then the thorium you waste on the imperials. Some examples: Green Iron Bracers are much cheaper to craft than Golden Scale Bracers , and also give a skill up nearly every time. Even if you miss 1 or 2 skill ups since it's yellow instead of orange , you still come out way ahead in terms of money spent on materials.
I suggest that your leveling path includes the items needed for the Barbaric Iron quest chain, which starts with Barbaric Battlements. It was pretty annoying to go back and craft costly, now grayed out, items when I could have been making them while leveling.
